It does not diagnose dyslexia, identify a learning disability, or replace a professional evaluation. Instead, it provides thoughtful guidance that can help families feel more confident about where to go from here.

Before We Begin
The Reading Profile is designed for parents and caregivers of children who are learning to read. It is not a diagnostic assessment and does not determine whether a child has dyslexia or another reading disorder.
Instead, it helps organize observations and identify thoughtful next steps based on the information you provide.
The following questions are based on your observations of your child's reading. There are no right or wrong answers. Simply choose the response that best reflects what you've noticed. Please answer each question.

The LynLight Reading Profile was created to help parents organize their observations about their child's reading and identify thoughtful next steps. It is designed to bring greater clarity to one of the most common questions families ask:

Rather than relying on a single checklist or screening tool, the Reading Profile was developed by reviewing research and professional guidance related to early reading development, reading difficulties, and the importance of early identification. Each question was intentionally selected because it reflects characteristics or risk indicators that are consistently described across multiple evidence-informed sources.
